My blog is so nice; too bad Im not using it anymore :)

I am completely caught in a twist of work. I have not been posting for a long time; I dont even remember how to do that anymore :-/ There surely is another reason for that. I have bought a new MacBook, so completely fallen into a gaming sphere on Windows 7. Hopefully be back ASAP…

Inspiration
The first impulse, which opened my eyes in sense of
making this site was a superb design related magazine Computer Arts Projects,
the Art of Webdesign issue. My biggest inspiration was found
mainly on WebDesignerWall, where a
plenty of great design and coding tutorials can be found. As
a teoretical background for me here was essential D.M.Scott's marvelous
„The New Rules of Marketing and PR“. Thanks a
lot for these, guys. Gotta be thankful also to the free
stock texture database Lost and
Taken to lay out my portfolio works at. Quite useful for
me here was also a grunge related article
on Smashing Mag.
Comment spam
As were coding the whole site manually, we intently
did not build any anti-spam comment protection to check how
the automated robots works. Hopefully will be able to strike
them down somehow, when needed. Gonna publish the results
later on.
Leave a feedback
I would be very glad to hear any critique
concerning to all areas mentioned; either the visual
presentation or the code of this. I am also open to any
ideas or suggestions on the overall concept or the content
side of the web.

The process of making this cup of coffee
Here is the place to introduce this website a little. General purposes could be found at the about section. Here I'll write about why the whole is, as it is; from the visual to the functional point of view.
When started to do the main blog layout, the idea of creating a portfolio site have simply overgrown into something more. I am pretty exited of doing any about this, so have to share at least the main ingredients.
Appearance
Have spend some time on the design. For the love of
coffee and some shiny colors the title should be saying. The
oldschool funky colors are so fine with me. The scheme of a
smoking female hand and the coffee*; I wanted the web
to be also reflecting a part of my personality.
There was no need of having this done in a clean way so have decided to go for a little grungy overview. First of all have layed the header and the body paper out. The real work have not even started though. Never ever could imagine, that doing the content could be more difficult than the main package. After the first Illustrator turn came with this layout.

The main difference was the typeface and the whole typography work. When it came to coding the first problem araised. Webfonts. Don't know where the development is, but even now, it is not possible to use any font wanted. After struggling with custom fonts for a while, decided to move on to the next version of layout. As visible on the fly, there is a „Georgia“ serif with the use of „Complete in Him“ handwritten image based font.
The code
The page is coded precisely with the use of Petr
Suman's hands. I didn't want to establish
just a Blogger or WordPress acount to start a blog, wanted
to make it fully custom so threfore decided for this way.
CMS uses Texy! formatting, so
supporting domestic creation. The fact is, that all the
messing arounds with custom cursors, favicons, linkage and
navigation took also it's time. Some of the effort
was finally usable, some ended up in the trash. But at
least, we have learned.
* the scheme feels pretty like a cliché, but that is some sort of objective; yep, I'm liking coffee and cigarettes
